Ingredients:

1/2 cup basmati rice
1/4 cup cooked chicken, diced
1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/4 teaspoon garam masala powder
1/4 teaspoon cumin powder
1/4 teaspoon coriander powder
2 tablespoons oil or ghee (clarified butter)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 small onion, chopped
2 green chilies, chopped
2 tablespoons fresh cilantro leaves, chopped
1 hard boiled egg, sliced
Salt to taste

Cooking Instructions:

Soak the basmati rice in water for 10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
Heat the oil or ghee in a pan over medium heat. Add the garlic and onion and sauté until golden brown.
Add the turmeric powder, garam masala powder, cumin powder and coriander powder and stir for a few seconds until fragrant.
Add the diced chicken and cook for 5 minutes until lightly browned.
Add the soaked basmati rice to the pan along with salt to taste and mix well to combine all the ingredients together.
Add enough water to cover the rice by about an inch and bring it to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 15-20 minutes until all the liquid has been absorbed by the rice and it is cooked through.
Remove from heat and fluff up the biryani with a fork before transferring it into a serving bowl or plate. Garnish with sliced hard boiled egg and fresh cilantro leaves before serving hot!
