One Serving Challah

This delicious one serving Challah is the perfect way to enjoy a traditional Jewish bread without having to make a large batch. It’s easy to make and only takes about an hour from start to finish.

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons of active dry yeast
2 tablespoons of sugar
1 cup of warm water (110°F)
2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
2 teaspoons of salt
3 cups of all
purpose flour

Cooking Instructions:

In a large bowl, combine the yeast, sugar and warm water. Stir until the yeast is dissolved and let it sit for 5 minutes until it starts to foam.
Add the oil, salt and flour and mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough for 5 minutes on a lightly floured surface until it is smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in an oiled bowl and cover with plastic wrap or a damp towel. Let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Punch down the dough and shape into one round loaf on a greased baking sheet or in an 8-inch round cake pan. Let it rise again for 15 minutes before baking.
Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown on top and bottom when tapped lightly with your finger. Let cool before slicing and serving.
