Israeli Falafel

This traditional Israeli Falafel recipe is easy to make and packed with flavor! It’s a great vegan meal that can be served as an appetizer or main dish. Simply combine chickpeas, parsley, cilantro, garlic, cumin, baking powder and flour in a food processor before forming into small balls or patties and frying in vegetable oil until golden brown and crispy on the outside! Serve warm with your favorite toppings such as tahini sauce or hummus!

Ingredients:

2 cups of cooked chickpeas (400g)
1/2 cup of fresh parsley (50g)
1/4 cup of fresh cilantro (25g)
2 cloves of garlic (10g)
1 teaspoon of ground cumin (5g)
1 teaspoon of baking powder (5g)
2 tablespoons of all purpose flour (20g)
Salt and pepper to taste
Vegetable oil for frying

Cooking Instructions:

In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, parsley, cilantro, garlic, cumin, baking powder and flour. Pulse until the mixture is combined but still slightly chunky.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Form the mixture into small balls or patties and set aside on a plate.
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the falafel balls or patties and cook for about 5 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy on the outside.
Serve warm with your favorite toppings such as tahini sauce or hummus!
