Ingredients:

2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
8 ounces cooked meatballs (homemade or store
bought)
1/4 cup tomato sauce or marinara sauce
2 slices provolone cheese
4 fresh basil leaves, chopped
2 slices Italian bread or hoagie roll

Cooking Instructions:

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
Add the oregano and red pepper flakes (if using) and stir to combine.
Add the cooked meatballs to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes until heated through.
Add the tomato sauce or marinara sauce to the skillet and stir to combine. Simmer for 5 minutes until heated through.
Place one slice of provolone cheese on each slice of bread or hoagie roll. Top with the meatball mixture and sprinkle with chopped basil leaves. Top with remaining slices of provolone cheese.
Place sandwiches in a preheated skillet over medium heat and cook for 3-4 minutes until cheese is melted and bread is golden brown on both sides. Serve immediately!
