Ingredients:

2 tablespoons butter
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups chicken broth or vegetable broth
1 large turnip, peeled and diced into small cubes
1/2 cup heavy cream or half and half
Salt and pepper to taste

Cooking Instructions:

In a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
Add the chicken broth or vegetable broth and turnip cubes. Bring to a boil then reduce heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes or until the turnips are tender.
Remove from heat and use an immersion blender to blend the soup until smooth. Alternatively you can transfer the soup in batches to a blender or food processor to blend until smooth.
Return the soup to the pot over low heat and stir in the cream or half and half until combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve warm with crusty bread or crackers on the side if desired. Enjoy!
