Ingredients:

120g ground beef
1/2 onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 cup canned diced tomatoes with juice
2 tablespoons tomato sauce or ketchup (optional)
120g dry pasta of your choice (e.g. penne or macaroni)

Cooking Instructions:

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until it is no longer pink. Drain off any excess fat.
Add the onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 3 minutes.
Add the oregano, basil and red pepper flakes (if using) and stir to combine.
Add the tomato paste and diced tomatoes with juice and stir to combine. Simmer for 5 minutes or until thickened slightly.
Meanwhile, bring a pot of salted water to a boil over high heat and add the pasta of your choice. Cook according to package instructions until al dente (tender but still firm). Drain well and set aside.
Once the sauce has thickened slightly, add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the sauce and stir to combine everything together well. Simmer for an additional 5 minutes or until heated through completely before serving hot with grated Parmesan cheese if desired!
