Gluten Free Irish Soda Bread

This delicious gluten free Irish Soda Bread is easy to make and requires no yeast! It’s perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner! All you need is some gluten free plain flour, baking soda, salt, vegetable oil and buttermilk or milk with lemon juice added – mix it all together then bake in preheated oven for 40 minutes until golden brown on top and cooked through when tested with a skewer inserted into the centre of the loaf!

Ingredients:

150g gluten free plain flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
30ml vegetable oil
200ml buttermilk or milk with a squeeze of lemon juice added

Cooking Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas Mark
Grease a baking tray with butter or oil.
In a large bowl, mix together the gluten free plain flour, baking soda and salt.
Add the vegetable oil and buttermilk or milk with lemon juice and mix until combined. The dough should be slightly sticky but not too wet.
Place the dough onto the greased baking tray and shape into a round loaf about 2 inches thick. Cut an ‘X’ into the top of the loaf with a sharp knife.
Bake in preheated oven for 40 minutes or until golden brown on top and cooked through when tested with a skewer inserted into the centre of the loaf.
