Ingredients:

250ml warm water
1 teaspoon sugar
7g active dry yeast
500g all
purpose flour
2 teaspoons salt
2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Cooking Instructions:

In a large bowl, combine the warm water and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the top and let it sit for 5 minutes until it is foamy.
Add the flour, salt and oil to the bowl and mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and shape each piece into a ball. Flatten each ball slightly with your hands and then use your fingers to poke a hole in the center of each one. Stretch out each hole until it is about 3 inches in diameter.
Place the bagels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let them rise in a warm place for 10 minutes.
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bring a large pot of water to a boil over high heat and add 1 tablespoon of sugar to it. Gently drop the bagels into the boiling water one at a time and let them cook for 1 minute per side before removing them with a slotted spoon onto another baking sheet lined with parchment paper or greased foil.
Bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes or until golden brown on top. Let cool before serving or storing in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
