Ingredients:

120ml warm water
1 teaspoon sugar
2 teaspoons active dry yeast
250g whole wheat flour
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 teaspoons salt

Cooking Instructions:

In a bowl, mix together the warm water and sugar until the sugar is dissolved. Add in the active dry yeast and stir until it is completely dissolved. Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes until it becomes foamy.
In a separate bowl, mix together the whole wheat flour, olive oil and salt. Add in the yeast mixture and stir until it forms a dough. Knead the dough for 5 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and roll each piece into a long rope about 25cm long. Shape each rope into a pretzel shape by making two loops on either side of the rope and crossing them over each other in the middle. Place the pretzels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or greased with oil or butter.
Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F). Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown on top. Let cool before serving.
