Ingredients:

200g spaghetti
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
400g canned chopped tomatoes
2 tablespoons tomato puree
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon dried oregano
2 tablespoons fresh basil leaves, chopped
Salt and pepper to taste

Cooking Instructions:

Bring a large pot of salted water to the boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to packet instructions. Drain and set aside.
Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook for 5 minutes until softened.
Add the canned tomatoes, tomato puree, sugar, oregano and basil leaves to the pan. Simmer for 15 minutes until thickened. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Add the cooked spaghetti to the saucepan and stir until combined. Serve hot with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
