Ingredients:

1 cup cooked chickpeas (chana)
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 teaspoon coriander powder
½ teaspoon turmeric powder
½ teaspoon garam masala powder
¼ teaspoon red chili powder (optional)
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 small tomato, finely chopped
Salt to taste For the Raita:
½ cup plain yogurt or Greek yogurt
¼ cup cucumber, grated or finely chopped
1 tablespoon fresh mint leaves, finely chopped
Salt to taste

Cooking Instructions:

Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds.
Add the onions and garlic and sauté until they are lightly browned.
Add the tomatoes and cook until they are soft and mushy.
Add the spices – coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder and red chili powder (if using). Stir to combine everything together.
Add the cooked chickpeas (chana) and mix everything together well. Cook for about 5 minutes or until everything is heated through. Adjust seasoning as needed with salt to taste.
To make the raita – In a bowl combine together yogurt, cucumber, mint leaves and salt to taste. Mix everything together well until combined. Serve chilled or at room temperature alongside chana masala as a side dish or condiment/dip/sauce/dressing as desired!
