Ingredients:

1 cup basmati rice
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/4 teaspoon saffron threads, crushed
2 cups water

Cooking Instructions:

Rinse the basmati rice in a sieve until the water runs clear. Set aside.
Heat the oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the cumin and mustard seeds and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
Add the garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
Add the turmeric powder and saffron threads and stir to combine.
Add the rinsed basmati rice to the pan and stir to coat with the spices and oil mixture.
Pour in two cups of water and bring to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover with a lid, and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until all of the liquid has been absorbed by the rice.
Remove from heat and fluff with a fork before serving hot or warm as desired!
