Delicious Welsh Beef and Onion Pie

This delicious Welsh Beef and Onion Pie is an easy yet flavorful British classic that will please everyone at any occasion! Ingredients:

500g lean minced beef
2 onions, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon tomato puree
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
2 tablespoons plain flour
300ml beef stock
2 tablespoons olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste

Cooking Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas Mark
Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic and cook until softened. Add the mince and cook until browned. Stir in the tomato puree, Worcestershire sauce, thyme and oregano leaves and season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook for a further 5 minutes before stirring in the flour. Gradually add the beef stock while stirring continuously until thickened. Remove from heat.
Grease an ovenproof dish with butter or oil then spoon in the mince mixture evenly into it. Roll out a sheet of puff pastry large enough to cover the top of your dish then place it on top of your mince mixture ensuring that it is sealed around all edges of your dish with a fork or knife so that no steam can escape during cooking. Cut two small slits into the top of your pastry lid for steam to escape during cooking then brush with beaten egg or milk for a golden finish when cooked.
Place your pie into preheated oven for 40 minutes or until golden brown on top then remove from oven and allow to cool slightly before serving with mashed potatoes or vegetables of your choice! Enjoy!
