Delicious Jeera Rice

This delicious Jeera Rice is an easy-to-make classic Indian dish that is full of flavor! Ingredients:

1 cup Basmati rice
2 tablespoons ghee or oil
1 teaspoon cumin seeds (jeera)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon garam masala powder
Salt to taste

Cooking Instructions:

Wash the basmati rice in several changes of water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in enough water for 30 minutes. Drain and set aside.
Heat ghee or oil in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds. Add garlic and sauté until fragrant.
Add turmeric powder and garam masala powder and stir for a few seconds until fragrant.
Add the drained basmati rice and stir to combine with the spices. Add salt to taste and mix well.
Pour in 2 cups of hot water and bring it to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to low, cover with a lid and cook for 15-20 minutes or until all the water has been absorbed by the rice and it is cooked through.
Fluff up the cooked jeera rice with a fork before serving hot with your favorite curry or dal!
